 PROSPERITY GOVERNOR IN ACTION  (PART 1)

Governor Diri’s prosperity agenda has manifested in various spheres of the Bayelsa state economy, one of which is getting approval from the NCAA to approve commercial flights at the Bayelsa Airport. You will recall that former Governor of the State, His Excellency Henry Seriake Dickson, now a leading Senator representing the good people of Bayelsa West Senatorial district built before leaving for the Senate.


When the NCAA Director General, Dr Nuhu Musa presented the regulalatory body’s approval letter to the Governor , who was highly elated in the Government House, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State Many who doubted that one day Bayelsa State could proudly own a modern day international airport of this standard are now celebrating this great achievement.  On that day, Dr Musa said the Airport met all the airspace standards and is one hundred percent ready for daytime operations and today we are enjoying it.


While responding to the visiting team, the Governor expressed appreciation to God for making the long awaited day possible. He said, and I quote ‘ issuing of the operational license was a winding journey that began from the administration of my immediate past predecessor, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson to when I assumed duty a year ago’.


Commercial flight operations has since commenced at the Bayelsa State International Airport with the United Nigeria Airline aircraft touching down about 3:45p.m. on August 11, 2021.

The aircraft, which took off from the Murtala Mohammed Airport 2 (MMA2) in Lagos at exactly 3: 30p.m., had on board the state Governor, Senator Douye Diri; the airline Chairman, Chief Obiora Okonkwo; Tokyo Olympics Silver medalist in wrestling, Bayelsa-born Blessing Oborududu; King Alfred Diete-Spiff, Boladei Igali, members of the Bayelsa State National Assembly caucus, the state House of Assembly members, commissioners among other dignitaries.


On that day, the Governor said: “This significant event is the culmination of the aspirations birthed by former state Governor, late Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, which was eventually built by Senator Seriake Dickson, my predecessor. And it is under my administration that this project was crystallised. This is a demonstration that teamwork truly works.


“I am happy to report to you that the pilot of the United Nigeria Airline said our runway is one of the best in Nigeria. It is our determination to make Bayelsa State truly the Glory of All Lands, and we are making the state

This achieved, the tourism sector has began to open up the frontiers of our tourism sites, our cultural heritage and maximizing the tourism potentials of our state, the region and Nigeria at large.


The Bayelsa governor, Douye Diri believes that the landmark event is a true testament that his team truly works.
