NDDC MD Position Sealed – Minister Abubakar Momoh Drops Explosive
Statement, Silences Opponents(Video

In a dramatic and earth-shaking pronouncement, the Minister of Regional Development has obliterated speculations surrounding the leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), delivering an uncompromising message that the position of the Managing Director (MD) remains occupied and unshaken.

During the inauguration of the South East Development Board and the North West Development Board, the Minister fired back at critics demanding the dissolution of the NDDC board , warning them to abandon their fruitless agitation for a leadership change. He sternly reiterated that the NDDC board remains fully functional and does not require any alteration, urging detractors to allow the board to execute its mandate without unnecessary interference.

The Minister dismantled the argument that the current MD had overstayed his welcome, revealing that his tenure had been officially renewed for another four years, effective from October 2023. With an air of finality, he declared that only President Bola Ahmed Tinubu holds the power to terminate any appointment, sending a clear message to those scheming for a leadership change to channel their demands directly to the Presidency instead of peddling false narratives.

In a pointed remark, he compared the situation to the North East Development Commission (NEDC), where leadership renewal was executed seamlessly, highlighting that stability is a non-negotiable factor for achieving meaningful development.

Taking his revelations even further, the Minister put an end to any speculation regarding the future leadership of the NDDC. He stressed unequivocally that once Bayelsa's tenure is complete, the MD position must rotate among the nine Niger Delta states as mandated by law.

With a firm and resounding voice, he categorically ruled out Delta State  from immediately producing the next MD, shutting down all premature power struggles and internal maneuverings.

Lauding the tremendous strides achieved by the current board, the Minister condemned any attempts to  derail the commission’s developmental agenda . He urged stakeholders to prioritize the prosperity of the Niger Delta over political squabbles, warning that infighting and confusion would only stifle progress.

As the dust settles on his fiery remarks, one thing is clear—the Minister has drawn a bold line in the sand. The NDDC remains under its current leadership, and any opposition will have to reconsider their motives.

He passionately appealed to these skeptics to let peace reign for the Niger Delta and, by extension, other developmental commissions.
