 DISCIPLINARY MEASURES AGAINST ERRING STAFF OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OTUOKE, BAYELSA STATE

The University does not intend to glamorize trivia by dignifying the hollow verbiage being spread by a former staff of Federal University Otuoke, Mr. Fada Doupere, dismissed for willfully absconding from duty and migrating to the UK, in total disregard to the fate of the students and the institution’s rules and regulations. Rather, we are constrained to put the records straight.

For the avoidance of doubt, permit me to state the following facts:

1. Some erring staff were disciplined by the Governing Council of Federal University Otuoke, after due processes were fulfilled, and in line with staff conditions of service

2. The sack of some staff by Council was not instantaneous; all sacked staff were subjected to disciplinary processes, rather than by any Federal Government fiat



3. Due disciplinary process was followed in the investigation and trial of the affected colleagues

4. The dismissed staff were not the only ones investigated. Some others were acquitted or given various disciplinary measures

5. The facts established against them included willfully absconding from duty, examination malpractice and holding more than one jobs at a time, as well as other types of misconduct

6. Some of them had absconded for more than a year before the sack

7. All Unions in the University, were represented in the Staff Disciplinary Committee, and participated actively in the processes that led to the dismissal of these former comrades.

The general public is urged to appreciate the high professional and ethical standards maintained at the Federal University Otuoke and disregard the falsehood being spread on social media by any disgruntled individual.
